eye for an eye
Those of you who may have had the opportunity to look over my most recent article for the New Standard News may find this blog interesting, which I made my way to via the Good Soldiers at Counterpunch.
Boss Brian Dominick at TNS sent along an email they'd received taking the site and yours truly to task for dissing America's Heartland before it'd even been shown. He asked (and I eventually demurred, cos I fucked it up so bad) if I'd be interested in responding. At any rate, my response went a little bit like this: had Mr. Reader In Question taken a careful look at the story, he would've seen that the thrust of the piece had little to do with the producer's goals so much as it did with the fact that it was being funded almost exclusively by two organizations that have more or less worked in active opposition to the interests of farmers - farmers who can't split their vast properties into half-a-dozen smaller farms or who aren't juiced with state and federal legislators for fat crop subsidiaries.
Bottom line, shelling out for a teevee show, even a PBS teevee show, doth not a responsible corporation make, and a look at the above link more than less shows the GRACE coalition tweren't just whistling dixie.
