new planet
One of the reasons the climate change argument is hard to make to some people - well, hard to make to Americans - is that most people outside of the sciences don't see the world the way it works; that is to say, they don't see the planet as an agglomeration of living systems, a network of a million billion feedback loops.
Instead, most of us typically visualize the functions of our environment as something that more or less moves along in a straight line of cause and effect (well, some people do).
Anywho, when we think of the planet less like a thing with parts but more like a body - a living thing - this sort of thing begins to make a bit more sense.
