o.g. original gangster
Feeling confused over the mixed signals, Labrateers? Groping for a grand narrative? And rightly so! Depending on where you look - is it about bringing the huddled Arab masses democracy? Or are they a buncha nogoodniks through and through? Did The Ruthless Dictator really have ties to The Evil One and Al Qaeda, even if President Jesus admits that wasn't so? What's the media's secret plan to use television and newspapers to defeat the biggest army in the world? And why is it that everyone's always so angry?
Or how about that woman - that girl - with the glasses, getting all uppity, not enough good sense to shut up, shut up and be glad she's not wearing a burka? And headless? Headless and wearing a burka?
I say, look to art to help you define the discourse:
As far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster. To me, being a gangster was better than being President of the United States. Even before I went to the cabstand for an after-school job, I knew I wanted to be a part of them. It was there that I knew I belonged. To me, it meant being somebody in a neighborhood full of nobodies.
See, when the squawking starts, just think of Ray Liotta and let the pity flow, baby - it's about being a somebody in a neighborhood full of nobodies.
