opened it and read it it said they were suckers
According the JMM @ Talkingpointsmemo.com, the man behind an anti-Kerry (in essence, an anti-Vietnam-war-protester) film that the Sinclair Broadcasting Company is pushing affiliates to show in the very near future worked for Tom Ridge @ the Department of Homeland Security.*
DHS has not emerged as the Orwellian horrorshow that its' name suggested, at least as far as we know. In fact, it's really hard for the average citizen and taxpayer to say just what DHS does, and how effectively it does it.
But to paraphrase Christian Slater in Heathers, I guess they don't have a policy against assholes (or party hacks), now do they?
*I did a piece a few months back for the New Standard on the so-called Miami Model; in the very short and spotty time I've been writing, DHS is without a doubt the least reporter-friendly institution I've run across outside of the private sector - at the time, there were no links, numbers, or namess whatsoever on the site for department spokespeople, a press office, or public relations. All questions were submitted via email, and I think I was only two or one of three there.
