The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently announced plans to significantly limit the information that companies are required to provide about their release of toxic chemicals—like mercury, lead, and dioxin—into local communities. The Toxics Release Inventory has served as a vital tool to inform citizens about toxic chemicals in their neighborhoods and as an incentive for companies to reduce their pollution by billions of tons. File a public comment with the EPA today urging the agency to retain our right to know what toxic chemicals are being released in our communities.
It takes like a minute, so, pretty please, with sugar on top.
It's worth noting that the communities that generally suffer from industrial dumping are usually rural and poor, and/or majority minority (see, "Gumbo, Toxic; Hurricane Katrina.")
